January 11, 2021|Bonvoy
Today Marriott rolled out some great enhancements to itw Bonvoy program. This is in addition to enhancements added last year. The new enhancements are as follows:
2021 Bonvoy Elite Status
-Like last year, Marriott will add 50% of the nights required for your tier from 2020 to your account.
-The number of dollars needed to be spent for Ambassador status has been reduced by 30%.
-There will be a double night and double points promotion meaning you will earning double night credits for stays of two nights or longer from Feb. 16th – April 27th. In order to get double nights, one night of the stay must be a paid night (i.e. not an award).
This means for 2021, the following will apply:

Some interesting things to note:
– If you have Platinum, Gold, or Silver status and have both a personal and business Marriott credit card, your status will remain the same (or improve if you were Silver in 2020).
– Where it gets interesting is adding the double night promotion to having both a personal and business Marriott credit card. If you had Titanium status in 2020 and use 1 paid night coupled with 3 award nights in 1 stay, you will earn 8 nights, which will give you Titanium again through Jan 2023.
Reduced award pricing
–Off peak-award redemption rates will decrease by 10% for travel through Sept. 30th if booked between Jan 11th and Feb 21st.
–The promotion also states you can save up to 40% when redeeming free award nights, but I’m not sure off what rate the 40% applies.
Overall this is great news and very fair.
