As I’ve mentioned, American Express has been extremely generous with retention offers.  

In the past, you could get a retention offer on a card every other year.   That no longer seems to be the case.

Yesterday, I was given a $350 credit on my American Express Platinum for Business account as a retention offer.  This was in addition to the $200 appreciation credit that was already given after renewal.   This makes my net annual fee $45.    Adding in the $200 airline and $200 Dell credits available, this becomes a money maker.
