Frontier just announced an all-you-can-fly pass for $599 for one year starting in May 2023 and can be purchased through today. While this may sound tempting, here is my take on it:
You may definitely get some good value out of this if you can be VERY flexible as there are certain caveats:
– You can only book a day in advance of your flight
– You must still pay 1 cent for the airfare plus fees and taxes. On prior ‘Fly Free’ Frontier sales, I have found the fees and taxes came to around $38 each way. I’m not exactly sure what the fees on these tickets will come to.
– The rules say that it may not be valid on all routes. I can’t seem to get an answer as to which routes are not included. This would definitely be a strong consideration prior to purchasing.
– You won’t earn frequent flier miles
– If you have Elite status, those benefits CAN be combined, which is good news. For example, 100K flyers can still get the Works bundle including free upfront seats, a carry-on bag, a checked bag, and priority boarding.
In my opinion, there is just too much uncertainty over when and where you can travel for me to purchase this. Additionally, I could take MANY Frontier flights for $599 (including taxes and fees) and earn miles without worrying about the caveats noted above.
