Missing annual free night with Bonvoy Amex card

Over a year ago the Amex Starwood cards were revamped and became the Amex Bonvoy cards.   Upon the annual renewal, you are supposed to get a free night certificate in your Marriott Bonvoy account.

I have two cards – the Bonvoy Brilliant and the Bonvoy Business.   The certificate for the Bonvoy Brilliant was credited to my account with no issues.  However, the certificate for the Business account never posted – even after the absurd 8-12 weeks they say it takes to post. 

After finally escalating to an Amex supervisor, I was told there are system issues they are working on – with no estimated time for this to be corrected.  The supervisor said he would manually credit a night to my account.  This night did appear in my Bonvoy account the next day.  He also said that when the system issue was resolved, I would still get the original free night.  So, if it ever posts, I’m coming out with an extra free night.

 

Check your Bonvoy account to make sure your free night was credited.  If not, ask for an Amex supervisor and ask for a manual credit.
