November 18, 2020|Annual Fee, Retention Bonus

I always mention, its worth asking for annual fee waivers or retention bonuses. However, sometimes it happens even without asking.
I just checked my Citi Premier statement. I was expecting a $95 annual fee to post. Instead, the statement says ‘$95 annual fee waiver’ and a $0 charge. This is a great gesture on behalf of Citi.
To that effect, I called Chase about my Sapphire Reserve annual fee. Aside from being billed a reduced fee of $450 instead of $550, I called an asked about the annual fee and they gave me a $150 statement credit. Coupled with the $300 annual travel credit, this brings the fee down to zero. Also a nice gesture by Chase.
What successes have you had with annual fee waivers?.
