You can get an easy 2,000 American Aadvantage miles by signing up for a trial subscription to The Economist for only $12 through the Aadvantage Shopping Portal. That works out to purchasing miles for $.006 per mile, which is very cheap.  Just remember to cancel your subscription right before the 12 week mark, or the subscription will automatically renew at the regular rate (unless you want to continue the subscription).   If you have a spouse, you can subscribe for each person and get 2,000 miles each!
